Levitra is an erectile dysfunction treatment made by Bayer and is available to buy as a standard or orodispersible tablet. The active ingredient in Levitra tablets is vardenafil which is a PDE5 inhibitor, and treats erectile dysfunction in a similar way to sildenafil (better known as Viagra) and tadalafil (Cialis).
What is ED?
Erectile dysfunction is a condition which is thought to affect around 50 per cent of men between the ages of 40 and 70 in the UK alone. It can be a consequence of a number of conditions more commonly associated with being over 40, such as type-2 diabetes and high blood pressure.
However, many men aged between 20 and 40 may develop symptoms too. Often these may be due to non-physical issues. Stress and performance anxiety are often causes among younger men, and these can sometimes be brought about by a keenness to satisfy their partner, particularly in a new relationship.
How do Levitra tablets work?
Vardenafil in Levitra has a much similar mechanism to other PDE5 inhibitors in that it encourages the dilation of blood vessels around the penis. When these vessels widen, it is easier for blood to flow into the penis during moments of sexual excitement, enabling stronger erections. Once taken it remains functional for around 5 hours.
What is Vardenafil?
Vardenafil is the working ingredient in Levitra. It functions by blocking an enzyme which can sometimes cause muscle walls to tighten and contract in those blood vessels at the entrance to the penis. By relaxing these muscle walls and allowing vessels to dilate, the medication allows more blood to travel into the penis during periods of sexual arousal, enabling more consistent and stronger erectile function.
What forms of Levitra are available?
Levitra is available to buy from our online pharmacy in two forms.
Men can buy Levitra tablets in three dosages which are 5 mg, 10 mg or 20 mg.
The orodispersible version of Levitra is only available to buy in the 10 mg dose at present.
Which strength you choose is largely determined by which treatment you’ve tried before, and whether or not it has been successful. Most people using vardenafil for the first time who are otherwise healthy will be advised to buy 10 mg. If this dose has not proved effective enough, a doctor may approve a move up to 20 mg. Adversely, those who experience mild side effects at 10 mg might be encouraged to move down to 5 mg.
Men taking the drug for the first time and ordering from our pharmacy are advised to begin on a dose of 5mg.
What is Levitra Orodispersible?
Levitra ODT is a type of erectile dysfunction tablet which quickly dissvoles on the tongue. The active ingredient is then absorbed into the bloodstream. They do not need to be taken with water like regular tablets do, so Levitra ODT may be preferred by those men who want a more discreet way of taking their ED medicine.
Can I buy generic Levitra?
Yes. Vardenafil, the generic version of Levitra, became available in October 2018.
When you buy Levitra and Levitra Orodispersible online it’s important to ensure you’re getting a genuine product which is safe to use. Only ever buy treatments which are licensed for sale and use in the UK, and always make sure the site where you are buying from is a GPhC registered UK pharmacy.

This treatment needs to be taken correctly to ensure that it is effective. Incorrect use may result in the drug either not working properly or causing side effects.
When taking Levitra, please refer to the instructions provided in the patient information leaflet as well as those issued by your doctor.
You must not take recreational drugs if you are taking Levitra.
How long before intercourse should you take Levitra?
Vardenafil takes around 25-60 minutes to work, so to ensure it is fully effective it should be taken around an hour prior to sex. It typically remains functional in the body for around 4-5 hours following this.
It is also important to note that taking medications after eating a large meal can sometimes result in them taking longer to work.
- Swallow the tablet whole with water.
- Never take Levitra more than once daily.
- You can take it after eating a meal, but those meals with a high fat content may increase the response time of the treatment.
- You will need to be sexually aroused in order for Levitra to work.
- Never exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor.
- Place your Levitra Orodispersible tablet onto your tongue.
- Swallow once the tablet has completely dissolved. This should only take a few seconds.
- Never take more than one Levitra Orodispersible tablet in any 24 hour window.
- Remember that some ED treatments, including this one, may not work as quickly if consumed immediately after food.
- Vardenafil requires the user to experience sexual stimulation before it can be fully effective.
- Never under any circumstances take more than your doctor tells you to.
- Do not take the orodispersible version with water. It does not require it.
How often do you have to take Levitra?
Levitra is an on-demand treatment for erectile dysfunction, so how often it is taken depends on how often the patient requires it. The effects of the drug generally last for around 4-5 hours. It should not be taken more than once in any 24-hour period, and a doctor may advise patients to observe a gap of 1-2 days or more between doses.
For more information, consult the leaflet which is supplied with the medicine, or ask your doctor.
Like all other prescription medicines available to buy for erectile dysfunction Levitra may cause side effects in some users. It’s essential to be aware of what these side effects may include, so that you can seek medical advice immediately if they occur.

Taking it with other medicines
Before you buy Levitra or Levitra ODT online from our UK pharmacy, tell your prescribing doctor about your medical history and any other medicines you are currently taking. Never begin or cease taking any remedies, prescription or nonprescription medicines without checking with your doctor or pharmacist first.
Make certain that you tell your doctor if you take: nitrates, arrhythmia treatments, HIV/AIDs medicines, antifungals, antibiotics, or high blood pressure medicines. Never take Levitra with any other medications for impotence unless explicitly told to do so by a doctor.
Conditions to look out for
During consultation for Levitra, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any containing ingredients, or if you have, or have had, any of the following conditions: heart, liver or kidney problems; stroke; angina; low blood pressure; degenerative eye disease; loss of sight; nonarteritic ischemic optic neuropathy; penile problems or a deformed penis; stomach ulcers; any condition which puts you at increased risk of priapism, such leukemia; or bleeding disorders.
There are other conditions not listed here which may affect your suitability for the treatment. In the interests of safety, always disclose your full medical history when requested to do so by your doctor.
Taking recreational drugs at the same time as impotence treatments can be extremely dangerous. You must not take any recreational drugs when taking Levitra, or if you are planning to take Levitra.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Women should not take Levitra.
Driving and using machinery
Refrain from driving or using tools or machines if you experience dizziness or any other side effects which may inhibit your capacity to do so safely.
Food, drink and alcohol
Taking Levitra with a large meal may delay the effect of it. Grapefruit juice may interact with Levitra, so should be avoided when using this medicine.
Alcohol can make erectile problems worse, so it is better to avoid drinking large amounts when taking Levitra.
Can I still drink alcohol?
Although medicines treating erectile dysfunction may still work when consumed with alcohol, it is recommended to refrain from drinking alcohol when using them as doing so can exacerbate ED symptoms.
Will I still be able to drive?
In most cases, using this medicine should not affect your ability to drive, or operate machinery. However, in a small number of cases, the treatment may cause side effects which impair your judgement, and in turn your ability to drive. If you think you may be experiencing side effects, it is advisable to avoid driving and seek medical advice right away.
How should I store it?
You should store Levitra at room temperature. Always keep the tablets in their original packaging as this will help to stop them being affected by light and moisture.
Am I allergic to anything in the medicine?
Levitra tablets contain the active ingredient Vardenafil Hydrochloride. Refrain from using this medicine if you are allergic to this, or any of the following ingredients used in this medicine: Crospovidone, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, colloidal anhydrous silica.
Levitra Orodispersible tablets contain: vardenafil, magnesium stearate, peppermint flavour, mannitol (E421) sorbitol (E420), aspartame (E951), crospovidone and hydrated silica colloidal. Again, do not take them if you are allergic to any of these ingredients.
